The Remelt Boundary: Is What You’re Being Quoted Actually a Hot Melt Film?
A large part of what the market sells as “heat activated adhesive film” is thermoset, not thermoplastic. The two are quoted under the same words, cost different money, and fail in opposite ways. Four questions about the datasheet you are holding will tell you which one is on the table.
Thermoplastic hot melt films re-melt on reheating; that is the definition of the material class. Reactive polyurethane hot melts are published at −30 to 150 °C service after curing — a different class with a different failure mode. Both statements are published reference values for the chemistry, not Teng Yang test results.
