- cost per m² = (price per kg × add-on in g/m²) ÷ 1000, divided by utilisation
- cost per linear metre = cost per m² × coating width
- kg per 1,000 m² = (add-on × 1000) ÷ 1000 ÷ utilisation
Why the cheaper kilo can be the dearer square metre
Add-on is set by your applicator — the engraving on your roller, your scatter head, your dot gauge — not by the polymer. A powder quoted 15% below the incumbent that runs 4 g/m² heavier on the same line costs more per square metre of finished goods, and nothing on the quote says so.
What this tool will not do. It will not tell you what a powder costs. No public source publishes a market price, a minimum order quantity or a transfer-efficiency figure for textile scatter coating, and Teng Yang publishes no price on the web either — a quote depends on cut band, melt-point target, colour, chemistry, volume tier and packaging. Every number above is yours. The calculator only does the arithmetic your quote sheet leaves out.
